13/4/2025 Siam Social @ Noordin Street, Penang

We discovered an establishment known as Siam Social situated on Noordin Street. Within its old, expansive structure, it serves as a cafe, restaurant, bar, poolside barbeque area, and gallery.

The upstairs boasts a tastefully decorated bar showcasing an array of glassware and a record library featuring vinyl records on display with a functioning turntable.

The diverse menu offers impeccably presented and delicious modern Thai cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere, proving that this venue transcends mere dining and serves as a dynamic epicenter for culinary delights.

It was a Sunday afternoon 13/4/2025. We enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. Wilson intended to order his next meal at the same establishment, confirming the quality of the food. Wilson settled the bill, for which we express our gratitude. We have arranged for the next get-together.

22/2/2025 Laem Charoen Thai Seafood

Bangkok’s popular 𝗟𝗮𝗲𝗺 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗻 restaurant chain has opened a branch at QBM, Penang. There was little publicity except for the longitude banners hung around the QBM's hallway.  Danny, Meng Yik, Lucy and I strolled into the brightly lighted restaurant. The environment was good and clean.

We ordered a deep-fried seabass with signature aromatic fish sauce (𝘱𝘭𝘢 𝘬𝘳𝘢 𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘥 𝘯𝘢𝘮 𝘱𝘭𝘢 ). This dish was done to perfection - the fish-meat still moist inside, whilst the outer skin was crusty and tasty from being basted with a light fish sauce-palm sugar dressing. We tried the green chicken curry (gaeng keaw wan gai). This is actually the best-tasting Thai green curry I’d had in Penang! The soya taufu and its delicate skin blended well with the chill sauce.

We were able to finish all the dishes we ordered and we gave a thumbs up for the excellent cooking. We find that this is the best authentic Thai seafood we have eaten.

2/6/2024 - Qually Syok

The cost of our meal was RM33.00 per person. We enjoyed a delightful selection that included curry fish head (accompanied by okara), grilled fish, stir-fried vegetables, mutton omelet, and fragrant rice. It was truly a satisfying dining experience.
